2016-02-02
CARLSBAD, CA, 5D Robotics, a leader in the development of automation technology for vehicles, today announced it has closed $5.5 million in a seed round from private investors for its commercial business efforts.
The need for increasing automation in many different verticals is on the rise and with it the demand for highly accurate navigation and precise positioning. The 5D technology provides an automation solution that can be easily installed and reconfigured to bring robotics innovations into tough environments and do it economically. 5D solves position and navigation down to the centimeter level allowing vehicles to park side by side, indoors, outdoors and in the snow, fog, or rain.

'We are happy that much of the round was from a strategic partner and demonstrates the strong level of confidence they have in our automation solutions,' said David Bruemmer, CEO and co-founder of 5D Robotics. 'In the end, this seed round was oversubscribed and we are pleased with this level. Now our focus is on execution for our customers, and rapid growth.'

5D Robotics will use the funds to accelerate the development of commercial products, software, and solutions into several vertical markets such as Industrial Heavy Equipment, mapping and inspection.
