SEATTLE, WA, VICIS, a football helmet developer, has secured $10 million in funding.
VICIS, today announced the latest step in bringing the ZERO1 football helmet to NCAA and NFL fields this fall, raising an additional $10 million to support the commercial launch of the helmet that performed better than all other helmets in the 2017 NFL/NFLPA Helmet Laboratory Performance Testing. The latest funding brings VICIS' total to nearly $40 million and allows the company to further its commitment to investing in new technologies that will improve the protection and performance of athletes in football and other sports.
The ZERO1 recently earned its top ranking following extensive testing by a committee of independent biomechanical experts appointed by the National Football League (NFL) and the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) to determine which helmets best reduce overall head impact severity. Since it was made available this spring, players across the NFL have been using the ZERO1 during organized team activities (OTA).
"Initial feedback and player adoption of the ZERO1 has been exceptional, with some of the NFL's best players wearing the helmet during OTAs," said Dave Marver, VICIS CEO and co-founder. "The latest funding allows us to continue investing in technologies that will protect athletes and elevate their performance."
Over 25 investors participated in the new funding led by Harry Fath, real estate developer and minority owner of the Cincinnati Reds, and a syndicate of leading sports medicine physicians who invested via the angelMD platform.
